ABOUT THE EVENT

Under a new California law- the first of its kind in the country- no later than July 1, 2024, California employers are required to establish, implement and maintain an effective workplace violence prevention plan and train their employees about the plan.

Why You Should Attend

On September 30, 2023, California enacted new Labor Code Section 6401.9, the first of its kind in the United States, that will be applicable to nearly all California employers, with only a few exceptions.

The new law requires employers to establish, implement and maintain an effective workplace violence prevention plan that meets the requirements of the new Labor Code Section 6401.9.  Employers are also required to train their employees about the new plan no later than July 1, 2024.

Failure to comply with Labor Code section 6401.9 comes with significant financial consequences. According to the new legislation, Cal/OSHA has the authority to issue citations and impose penalties on employers found to be in violation.

Penalties vary, encompassing minor fines for smaller infractions to substantial monetary consequences for severe or repeated breaches. Additionally, non-compliant employers may potentially face legal action from employees who experience workplace violence due to the absence of a proper workplace violence prevention plan.

This course will review everything you need to know about the new statute, its requirements, and successfully developing your own workplace violence prevention plan and training.
