Form I-9 is a vital piece of document that every employee has to fill up in order to prove his or her eligibility to work in the U.S. It needs to be filled up and submitted within three days of joining. However, just filling it out does not serve the purpose. You also need to submit all the required documents that establish your claims made in the form. The employee has to fill in section I and submit all the documents as relevant to him or her, and the employer scrutinizes the claims and the documents given in support of that. This calls for the submission of proper documents.

Supporting Documents
There are 3 lists of acceptable documents that the employee has to go by. These are known as list A, list B and list C. Documents in list A are accepted for identifying the worker as well as to establish his or her work authorization. Documents in List B documents are accepted just for identifying the worker, and documents in list C are accepted only to establish authorization for working in the US.
You may furnish one document from the list mentioned in List A since these documents can prove both identity and work authorization. In case you don’t have any document from List A, you must submit one from List B and another from List C.
