5 Basic Onboarding Mistakes

  • Never Be Over Promising: Being over-promising with the new joiner. This will either make them think that they are free to do what they want. Or they may even think “I can do it my way”. This can be very dangerous.  Every new joiner needs to follow the rules and regulations of the company as the other employees.
  • Being Too Lenient Can Be Risky: Being too friendly can prove to be very wrong. In the first 30 days of onboarding, the employer needs to check his relationship with the new employee. Leniency can prove to be very risky.
  • Have Transparency In The Plans: What you want from the new employee needs to be very clear. As an individual joins the organizations makes things very clear about the do’s and don’ts of the organization.
  • Never Be Too Bossy: For making the employees give their 100% the employer needs to make them understand what exactly they need to do. Moreover, explaining the new organization about the working environment and his\her job clearly is essential.
  • Do What I Do Or Follow Me: Leaders need to share their experience rather than saying “do what I do”. The recruiters need to analyze the skills of the new joiner and thereby give them the work that they can do perfectly. As every employee is different and therefore, needs to be handled in a different way. if possible, employers can go for one on one training. This will make the new joiner love the work given.

How To Resolve The Mistakes Done While Onboarding New Employees?

  • The Attitude Of The Employer Needs To Be Good: Employers’ attitude towards the new employees needs to be like a good teacher and not as a boss. Explain things with 100% clarity. Being clear and transparent is what is needed to get 100% results from the employees.
  • Assign Jobs According To One`s Skills: The best thing the employers and the recruiters can do is to assign jobs seeing the potential of the new employee. To get what the company wants this theory really works.
  • Make Contacts With Each Employee: The employer must ensure in making contacts with the new employees. Hiring someone for a position and expecting that he\she will come to you if they need you is very wrong. As the employer brings in new people for working in the organization make sure to talk to them at least 5-10 minutes daily. The First 30 days of onboarding a five-minute talk about the day really works.
