Ultimate New Hire Checklist to Onboard Best Employee

Before hiring new employees onboard it is always necessary to keep the checklist ready. An onboarding employee checklist must contain all the information that is necessary for the benefit of the organization. The checklist not only benefits the employer but also the employees. They can easily acclimate to their role in the company and understand their role and expectations of the company.

For employers, the checklist ensures better job performance, employee satisfaction, and increased efficiency. It moreover results in higher employee retention rates. One can therefore say that the comprehensive onboarding is in the interest of all the people concerned.

The new hire checklist template must include the following information also:

  • Make the Hiring Official with the HR Department: It is always necessary to submit the job requisition document with the HR team. The team can, therefore, ensure all the necessary information about the new employee before he is officially hired.
  • Gather all the Necessary Documents: It is better to gather all the necessary documents that the new hire needs to sign. On the first day itself. It can also be beneficial for the employees to have a printed copy of the job description for a better understanding of the company’s expectations from him for the role.
  • Keep Ready the Necessary Devices and Equipment: Before hiring the new employees the management must keep the necessary devices like the computer and its accessories ready. For this, they can send a request letter to higher management.
  • Set up Necessary Credentials and Login Details: Before the employee enters the office building he must have access to do the same. He must also have all the credentials necessary for logging in into company’s software. The IT team can look after such requisitions.
  • Set up the Workstation: It is always beneficial for the management to make their new hires welcomed. For this, they can keep their desk clean. They can also place all the necessary devices needed in the right place. 
  • Schedule Orientation: Orientation is a small and not so formal meeting of the new hires with the management where they are briefed about the company and the employees’ roles. 
  • Plan a Tour to the Company’s Building: In between regular work management must plan a tour to the building for new employees. This way they can meet other co-workers and the person to meet for necessary information. 
  • Assign a Mentor: For the initial few days or weeks, it is beneficial to assign a peer mentor to the new employee. The mentor can answer to their queries and introduce him to other department. A mentor can be beneficial for new hires for their success.
  • Schedule Timing for Onboarding Feedback: It will prove beneficial for the interest of company to arrange a time for meeting the new employees. Keep the meeting precise and learn about their improvement and understanding of the company and their role. The conversation can help the management to add additional info to the checklist if necessary.
